Generally speaking, on average men don’t live as long as women. There’s many factors that play a role in why this is, but there are a few things men can do to increase longevity. With that said, here are tips to increase male longevity.
Exercise Regularly
Men should exercise regularly if they want to live a longer and healthier life. This can include jogging, brisk walks and weight training. Exercising daily can improve heart health, lead to weight loss and keep obesity at bay. Not only that, but exercise plays a role in warding off an array of conditions, including diabetes and heart disease.
Eat Right
Junk food and processed foods in general can cause men to develop conditions that can shorten their lifespan. If you have a habit of eating junk food regularly, then you should start eating right. You don’t have to go on a diet, as you simply have to eat normal foods you know are good for you.
For example, foods that are considered “normal” include oats, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits and fish and eggs. If you’re a meat eater, then consume white poultry and eat red meat sparingly. The bottom line is to stop eating fried food, processed food and sugary foods/drinks.
Drink Plenty Of Water
We all know how good water is for our bodies and that we need it, but so many men don’t consume enough. Instead, they tend to reach for sugary drinks and juices when they need a drink. If you want to increase longevity, then drink enough water. Drinking enough water can aid in maintaining your weight, reduce headaches and prevent constipation to name a few.
Improve Mental Health
When men are mentally stressed out, then often find it difficult to speak out about how they are feeling. It’s important to speak to friends, families or even support groups to maintain good mental health. Alternatively, men should exercise, try to think positive thoughts and meditate, as such things can improve overall mental health.
De-Stress
Stress is one of the leading causes of various conditions, therefore it’s a good idea to do what you can to de-stress. Asides from exercising and meditation, you should do activities you enjoy. This can be things such as gardening, fishing, playing sports, reading books or taking a bath. It doesn’t matter what it is, do activities on a regular basis that will help you unwind and de-stress yourself.
No Substances
Finally, men can increase their longevity by avoiding substances that reduce longevity. This includes alcohol, cigarettes, vaping products and drugs of any kind. Substances wreck havoc on men’s health, both physical and mental health. If you currently consume substances, then start weening yourself off of them, and eventually you can stop using them altogether.
These tips may seem like commonsense, but a lot of men don’t do those things. If you want to increase male longevity, then do the above. Just make sure you are consistent and you do the above on a regular basis.
